Client Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any queries relating to the service we provide, feel free to contact us for an informal chat. In the meantime here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from current and prospective clients.
What are the benefits of using a Supertemp?
There are many reasons why a company may enlist the assistance of a temporary worker. These include:
- Early stages of a new business – is there enough work to employ someone on a permanent basis? What hours would you wish your permanent person to do? Engaging a temp could be seen as a “trial run”, a “testing of the water” to help you determine exactly what your long term needs will be.
- You will remain free from the burdens of PAYE, SSP, SMP, WFTC, Holiday Pay and Pension Schemes – all temps remain on our payroll.
- You pay only for the hours worked and you can choose what you want those hours to be.
- Flexibility – you can request temporary assistance for as long, or short, a period as you wish.
How can I be sure that any candidate I engage will be vetted?
At Supertemps we employ a rigorous vetting procedure. Our business outlook is a longterm one. We are here to develop lasting business relationships with our clients and the only way this is going to be successful is if we are honest and thorough and offer a quality service.
Our candidates are vetted through initial application, CV submission, interview, skills testing, reference checking, identity checking and assessment in the workplace. We will not send out candidates before we have received satisfactory references back on them – this is something you should be very careful to request from any agency you use.
What will it cost?
The rates we charge vary according to the duties to be undertaken. The only additional cost you will have to the hourly rate quoted will be VAT. We do endeavour to keep our rates as competitive as possible as we are only too aware of the budgetary constraints which managers are bound by. A fair deal for all concerned is what we aspire to.
How does it work?
From the initial discussion with the client we will ascertain the job description and details of the role to be undertaken. A client visit may be applicable at this stage in order to gain a more detailed insight into the prospective working environment and role.
Next we will search our databases for suitable candidates and discuss the assignment with them. With their permission we will forward their details to the client. All candidates recommended will have been interviewed in person by our consultants, reference checked, and their identity verified.
If the role is particularly long-term, or permanent, an interview with the client may be required. This is generally beneficial to both parties prior to offering, or accepting, a long-term position.
If all parties are satisfied and the placement goes ahead we will advise the temporary worker of his/her contact details on arrival at the placement company. Each week the worker will submit timesheets for approval by the client company. From these we will invoice the client and pay the worker weekly, one week in arrears.
Whilst the temporary worker is engaged on an assignment through Supertemps his/her progress will be monitored through assessment forms sent to the client. We also contact every new starter to confirm that he/she is happy in their new placement.
When the assignment comes to an end we ask the client company to give us as much notice as they can in order for us to seek alternative work for the individual.
If I wish to retain the services of the temporary worker on a permanent basis, what happens then?
If the worker is happy to undertake the position on a permanent basis, it is normal business practice that a one-off fee will be chargeable or an extended period of hire applicable in order to recover our recruitment costs. This fee will be a percentage of the annual salary to be paid to the employee. However, we are as flexible as possible on fees charged and will take into account any time that the worker has been engaged with you on a temporary basis. Comprehensive details are forwarded to all clients in our Terms of Business.
I’m seeking a permanent employee and don’t want to engage him/her on a temporary basis first. Does Supertemps supply permanent personnel also?
Absolutely. We supply temporary, permanent and contract personnel in the Commercial, Financial and Industrial sectors. Supplying temporary staff is just a part of what we do – permanent placements are a considerable proportion of our business also.
Who are the temps engaged by Supertemps?
The temporary workers registered with Supertemps are from a diverse cross-section of the community. They may be:
- Individuals seeking permanent work eventually
- People who have recently moved to the area and want to get a taste of the local business community before settling to one position.
- Parents who only wish to work part-time.
- Graduates seeking graduate placements or permanent work/students during holiday periods.
- People who don’t wish to work all year round
- Permanent temps – those who just wish to temp!
