Super Location
North Wales, one of the most scenic areas of the UK, is also a thriving business location...

North Wales Weekly News 03/03/2005

The idea for the company was born when Dorothy Patterson and a couple of friends sat up all night, back in 1980, to do some urgent typing for a local businessman. Little did she know then that demand for such a service would snowball into the business Supertemps is today.

Although still family-owned and run, Supertemps now has more than 180 temps on its books and many fantastic clients, some of whom have been with the company since the early days.

In the 1990s the company went through a huge growth period, operating over both a broader area and a broader spectrum of industry.

This, combined with Sarah Patterson, a business school graduate, joining the company, led to a new era where the sky was the limit and the company grew and flourished.

Temporary working also became a viable permanent option for more people in 1998, with the introduction of the Working Time Directive entitling temps to paid holiday (amongst other things) for the first time. Since then, Supertemps has grown from strength to strength and has settled into its position at the forefront of the recruitment industry in North Wales.

The company moved to high street offices in April 2000. It also became a member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), which reassures both candidates and clients that a strict code of practice is adhered to.

Sarah Patterson, director of Supertemps, believes the success of the company is down to keeping the same ideals they had as a smaller operation - a simple, honest and no-nonsense approach. She said: "We've had a very low staff turnover in our offices over the years, which results in continuity with our temps and clients. These relationships allow us to offer a personal service, and since the recruitment industry thrives on word of mouth publicity and recommendations, we believe this is the secret of our success."

In March 2005, the company launches a newly designed shop front and website. It will also be introducing new, more convenient, opening hours, including Saturdays and some evenings. And any new temp who registers in March will be treated to a bottle of bubbly to celebrate!
